West Ham United are ready to step up their efforts to secure the services of Tammy Abraham in the summer transfer window. The Hammers will make a loan offer to London rivals Blues for England international, who is expected to complete a switch to another club ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Abraham has seen his stock plummet considerably following a breakthrough season with Blues last term. Having already been forced to share game-time after the arrival of Timo Werner, Tammy has gone completely out of favour since the German manager took charge at Chelsea.
Indeed, the 23-year-old has featured a mere 7 times since scoring a hat-trick in Frank Lampard’s last game in charge of Chelsea, with the likes of Giroud, Havertz and Werner all ahead of him in the pecking order for strikers. Therefore, it is hardly surprising that the English centre-forward now wants to move away from the Blues this coming summer.
There is no shortage of interest in Tammy, though, with the likes of Newcastle United, Leicester City and Aston Villa among the teams that have been linked with him. Another such suitor are Hammers, who present an interesting case for the Chelsea centre-forward.
The interest from West Ham United is not really surprising, considering they are yet to replenish the place of Sebastien Haller following his move to Ajax in winter. Haller’s departure has left David Moyes with Michail Antonio as the only striker at his disposal, which is why the need to sign another striker in Tammy is rather imperative.
