Norwich City have entered the battle to sign Brandon Williams, joining West Ham United and Southampton in the pursuit of the Man United right-back, who is likely to be loaned out in the upcoming summer transfer window.
A product of the Red Devils youth academy, U21 England international was tipped to make his big breakthrough in the 2020/21 season, especially after playing 36 competitive games last term.
However, the summer arrival of Alex Telles coupled with Luke Shaw’s vast improvement this campaign have massively restricted Williams’ playing-time with the Red Devils.
Brandon has featured in only six minutes in the PL this term and has only been a regular in the Carabao Cup and the UEL, meaning he does have a chance of featuring in the Red Devils upcoming match final tie against Villarreal this month.
Nonetheless, it is not enough a player of the 20-year-old defender’s potential and this is why the teenager has attracted the interest of the Hammers.
The Hammers have already had a lot of luck in loaning one Red Devils attacker in Jesse Lingard in winter and are actively keen on making the deal permanent after the winger has been involved in 13 goals in 12 league games.
It appears the English right-back has been identified as an ideal fit in David Moyes’ wing-back system. The teenager loves to get forward, as well as having the ability to play on both flanks, making him a tailor-made component in a back-three.
Brandon’s versatility, though, could also be useful for another interested club in Norwich City. The Canaries might need a new right-back summer, amid speculations linking Max Aarons to a move away from Carrow Road.
