West Ham United are bracing themselves for a possibly long transfer saga as they look to permanently secure the services of Jesse Lingard. England international has been a revelation since joining them on loan from Man United in winter, even becoming one of PL’s best performers in 2021.
Unfortunately for the Hammers, they don’t have an option to buy clause embedded in Jesse’s loan deal. And although earlier reports suggest that the Red Devils are willing to offload Lingard for only £15m, they are now reconsidering following the attacker’s exceptional displays in recent weeks.
The Norwegian manager himself was reluctant to let go of the 28-year-old attacker, even on a loan deal in fear of the club’s lack of depth in the attacking unit. Ultimately, it was the arrival of Amad Diallo from Atalanta that may have swayed the Norwegian coach.
Either way, the English attacker is having a dream spell at West Ham United, scoring six goals and providing four assists in only ten games. In fact, no other PL footballer has been involved in as many goals ever since the Red Devils winger arrived in London.
Jesse’s displays have been critical in helping West Ham United remain in the fight for the top four places, with the club still leading the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and defending champions Liverpool in the league table. Jesse himself has been involved in ten of the club’s 48 goals this campaign. As such, David Moyes is now keen on keeping Lingard in London next campaign as he hopes to build a solid foundation in front-line.
