Valencia keen on signing £185,000-a-week Arsenal centre-forward

Newcastle United have Valencia as competitors for the signature of Alexandre Lacazette, who could sign a pre-contract agreement with teams outside of England this month. The Magpies have been looking at several footballers from across many teams to sort their squad out ahead of their ongoing relegation battle.

Newcastle United have been sitting in the bottom zone for most parts of this campaign and desperately need footballers who can improve their fortunes in the short term. Their main targets are to recruit a central midfielder and at least two defenders.

While they have already signed Trippier from Atletico Madrid lately, the back-line area still needs reinforcements. However, since the injury to Wilson, Eddie Howe is also looking for a new centre-forward. In recent weeks, there have been links with Aubameyang since the African striker’s issues with the club were made public.

However, it looks Newcastle United are also interested in France international, who has only six months left on his deal. Valencia are not in the position to even come close to matching Alexandre’s current salary, and a deal may prove difficult to achieve.

Lacazette will have many options at the end of the campaign while extending his stay at Emirates Stadium is also possible. If the Magpies manage to avoid relegation, the French striker could become a realistic target for Newcastle United in the summer.
