Two Chelsea injured footballers will miss the Premier League opener

The London club will be without Hakim Ziyech and Ben Chilwell for their PL opener with Brighton on Monday evening, according to reports. Morocco international, who was signed in a £37m deal from Ajax, was forced off in the second half of Blues pre-season friendly with Brighton on August 29.

The 27-year-old attacker has suffered a knee injury and he will not be risked against Brighton on Monday evening. The report also claims that the Chelsea manager will be unable to call upon his new £50m England international.

Chilwell suffered a heel injury in Foxes victory over Crystal Palace on July 4 and is still recovering. However, Chelsea will be boosted by the prospect of having Christian Pulisic available for their opening PL game.

The American attacker is due to come back to training on Wednesday having recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in Blues defeat to Arsenal in the FA Cup final. Blues latest addition Kai Havertz is also in line to make his debut after completing his move to London club last week.

It’s understood that the 21-year-old playmaker has impressed in his first few training sessions with Chelsea coach’s side. Germany international has yet to be given a squad number but the attacker has asked for the No.29 shirt which is currently occupied by Fikayo Tomori.

As things stand, it could now take a few weeks for the Moroccan forward to make his competitive debut. Ben Chilwell admitted recently that his heel was ‘healing well’ and he was ‘feeling really good’ but it is believed it will take a couple more weeks for him to be ready too.
