Spurs are reportedly in pole position to sign Liverpool-linked playmaker Dani Olmo. Mauricio Pochettino is making moves for the in-demand Dinamo Zagreb midfielder, with a potential deal costing the London side £27m.
Dani, who progressed through Blaugrana’s youth system before leaving for Zagreb in 2014, was a standout performer for Spain in the Under 21 European Championships. Olmo managed to get himself on the scoresheet as Spain beat Germany 2-1 in the final.
His recent impressive performances for his country alerted the Merseyside club, along with Premier League rivals Chelsea and Man United. The 21-year-old playmaker had an impressive season as he played 44 games, scored 12 goals and provided nine assists in all competitions.
Dani has contracted with the Croatian club until 2021, and his release clause is around €25m. Christian Eriksen heavily linked with several clubs and his replacement is necessary.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is open to the possibility of signing to his Champions League-winning squad, but it looks as though a possible deal for Spaniard could well be one that the German manager decides not to pursue following the latest reports.
Spurs had an excellent result in the Premier League as they finished the competition in a fourth position and secured the Champions League group stage place. English club also reached the Champions League final, but they lost 2-0 against Liverpool and missed the chance to win a European title.
Tottenham already signed Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and Leeds United forward Jack Clarke. The Argentine manager also wants to sign Ajax playmaker Donny van de Beek.
