Tottenham in advanced talks with €25m-rated Man United defender

Red Devils are reportedly demanding £25m for Chris Smalling. England international joined AS Roma on loan last summer and has had an impressive stint there so far. Chris has featured in 28 matches for the Giallorossi, scoring two goals with Udinese and Brescia while providing an assist versus the latter.

Man United are demanding £25m for Smalling who Roma want to sign permanently. The 30-year-old centre-back has also been linked to Tottenham and Everton lately with Italian outlet Calciomercato claiming that both Premier League clubs were interested in signing him.

The English defender has done pretty well for Roma this campaign so far and provided he maintains his current form, there’s a chance of him making England’s squad for Euro 2020. Given Chris’ performances this campaign, Roma would try and sign him permanently after the end of his loan spell.

Spurs and Toffees could very much do with someone like him. Although if Red Devils are demanding £25m for Chris, it’ll be interesting to see whether his suitors will be willing to pay that or not.

Tottenham have terrible consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in an 8th place in the table. London club signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, Jack Clarke from Leeds United, Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis and Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.

Spurs also added Gedson Fernandes from Benfica and Steven Bergwijn from PSV in January. English club heavily linked with Benfica centre-back Ruben Dias, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, Roma winger Cengiz Under and Barcelona right-back Sergi Roberto.
