Tottenham retain an interest in Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger, who could be available on a free transfer in the summer of 2022. Germany international has been one of the best centre-backs in the PL and Europe over the past six months or so, ever since the defender was brought back from the cold by the German coach.
Rudiger played a crucial role in the Blues’ UCL triumph and has been in fine fettle in the new campaign as well. However, his future at Stamford Bridge has been cast into doubts as Antonio has less than twelve months left on his current deal.
Negotiations over a new contract are yet to progress as the 28-year-old defender assesses the options in front of him. And, his potential availability on a free transfer has alerted several top teams in Europe.
Indeed, Real Madrid, Bayern and Juventus are all said to be keen on a Bosman move for the German defender, with the Spurs also now entering the fray as per the aforementioned report. It is claimed that Tottenham have been keen on Rudiger since played for Stuttgart and Roma.
They even made an attempt to add him last year when he was out of favour under the English coach. Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have started the campaign strongly but have been known for their inconsistent ways. The Spurs bolstered their back-line this summer with the acquisition of Cristian Romero from Atalanta.
