Spurs are reportedly interested in potentially rivalling Roma for the transfer of the Red Devils centre-back Chris Smalling. England international has had a superb campaign on loan at Giallorossi this term, looking back to his best and perhaps showing he could be worth giving another opportunity to in the Premier League.
Still, it perhaps looks unlikely that Chris has a future at Old Trafford, Man United are set to let him go for nearly £17m. The report claims Spurs are also eyeing Smalling’s situation, so it could be that the centre-back is reunited with his former Man United coach Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham could do with more defensive options at the moment, with Jan Vertonghen due to be out of the deal this summer and a revamp of this squad looking needed after a frustrating season. Chris has shown he could still be a decent option for a top club, and it would be interesting to see if he’d be keen on the move back to England after enjoying his time in Italy.
Tottenham have excellent consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in a sixth place in the table. Spurs signed several footballers during the summer transfer window like Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon, Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis, Jack Clarke from Leeds United and Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham.
London club also added Gedson Fernandes from Benfica and Steven Bergwijn from PSV during the January. The 30-year-old centre-back also played in the Euro 2016 which is already a big achievement for the footballer.
