Stoke City are chasing former Liverpool centre-half Martin Skrtel.
At least that’s the claim being made by reports in Turkey where Skrtel currently plays for Fenerbahce.
Now 32, the Slovak international was pretty much a regular for the Turkish outfit during his first season with the club in 2016/17.
That was preceded by an eight-and-a-half-year stay with Liverpool for whom he played more than 300 games.
Skrtel would certainly bring a wealth of experience to the heart of a Stoke defence looking a little flimsy right now as they are yet to wrap up Bruno Martins Indi’s return from FC Porto.
He would add a physical presence to the team, but wouldn’t add much by way of pace in the centre of any Premier League back four.
