Stade Rennais in pole position to sign 6 ft 1 in Gunners centre-back

Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny has reportedly agreed on terms with Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais, as he edges near a move away from the Emirates this transfer window. France international has agreed on a deal with Rennais very recently, with the footballer now set to meet with Gunners chiefs to discuss his future.

This news comes after Koscielny refused to travel with his Arsenal teammates on the club’s pre-season tour of the USA, something that spurred rumours of the footballer looking to leave the Gunners. The one thing London club can’t afford to lose this transfer window is centre-backs.

Laurent has been one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League for several years now, and it stays to be seen whether London club will be able to bring in a suitable replacement for him before next month’s transfer deadline.

Although, we’re sure the imminent arrival of young defender William Saliba will soften the potential blow of losing Koscielny to Stade Rennais. All we can assume now is that Gunners let the 33-year-old defender leave very soon so that they have enough time to bring in a replacement before August 8th transfer deadline.

Stade Rennais had a great consequence in Ligue 1 as they finished the competition in a 10th position. Les Rouge et Noir also won the French Cup final against PSG in a penalty shoot-out. French club already signed M’Baye Niang from Torino, Flavien Tait from Angers and Romain Salin from Sporting this summer transfer window.
