Barcelona are said to be eyeing up Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Dani Olmo as an alternative signing to PSG and Brazil attacker Neymar. Blaugrana could return for Neymar in either the winter or summer transfer windows, with the Catalan club still firmly in the hunt for the Brazilian superstar.
However, Real Madrid, Man City and Man United are also in the battle for the forward, something that’s set to push the footballer’s price beyond the €200m mark, and because of this, Barcelona are eyeing up €36m-rated Dani as an alternative.
If they don’t manage to sign Neymar jr in future transfer windows, U21 Spain international certainly wouldn’t be a bad replacement to go for. Olmo, who was part of Blaugrana’s youth set-up for seven years between 2007 and 2014, has been impressing for both Dinamo and Spain’s U21’s side lately, a form that has seemingly caught the eye of Barca.
Since the start of last campaign, the 21-year-old playmaker has scored 16 and assisted 13 in all tournaments for Dinamo Zagreb, with the Spanish midfielder also playing a key role in his team’s U21 European Championship win during that time frame as well.
Dani has shown that he’s able to play as both a forward and a midfielder during his career, versatility that could come in handy for the La Liga giants should the footballer end up sealing a comeback to the Nou Camp soon.
Paying €36m for a midfielder who’s already familiar with Spanish club’s playstyle, as well as one that has a high ceiling in regards to his potential, certainly wouldn’t be a bad deal after all.
