Southampton started talks with €20m-rated Chelsea striker

Southampton are exploring the possibility of signing Armando Broja permanently after the on-loan Chelsea striker’s fantastic displays at the club. Ralph Hasenhuttl has been building a young team in the background and completely understands the risks of such an endeavour.

The Austrian manager has been fantastic at Southampton, even though results haven’t exactly reflected his ambition at the club. Even his recruitment style has been questioned numerous times, including the loan signing of Albania international.

The 20-year-old striker, who has just played one senior game for Chelsea, was a risky signing for Southampton, considering his relatively limited experience at the highest level. Ralf Hasenhuttl still took an opportunity, and in recent weeks the centre-forward has been on top form.

Armando has five goals in the PL, with three of those coming in the last few matches since the start of December. Southampton are now exploring signing Broja permanently and are prepared to begin negotiations with the Blues.

Chelsea, however, are in no rush to make a decision just yet, as they could wait until the end of the season to determine the future of the Albanian striker.

The Blues would like to see his performances over the course of the current campaign and then decide whether to keep the striker at Stamford Bridge or sell him off to interested sides. The report suggests the Saints may not be the only club keen on a permanent move, as other teams are enquiring about the Albanian centre-forward.
