Southampton join race to sign £110,000-a-week Liverpool playmaker

Southampton are reportedly interested in bringing back Liverpool playmaker Adam Lallana. England international has played 175 games for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals and providing as many assists. However, Adam fell down the pecking order due to injuries and has become a squad footballer for the Merseyside giants now.

This campaign, Lallana has played 19 games across all tournaments so far, scoring the late equaliser with the Red Devils and providing two assists. Saints are interested in signing the 31-year-old playmaker in the summer when his contract with the Merseyside club expires. Lallana also wants to get regular playing time next season.

This report also claims that Leicester City, West Ham, Arsenal and Tottenham are interested in signing him as well. Merseyside club currently have several midfield options that include James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain besides the regular starters. Ralph Hasenhüttl also wants to bolster the midfield during the summer.

Hence, a move away from Liverpool could do well for him. The English playmaker had a pretty good stint with his boyhood club Southampton, amassing 59 goals and 48 assists in 261 games across all tournaments. A move to the Saints would do Adam well as he could be a regular under Ralph Hassenhuttl.

Southampton have terrible consequences in the Premier League this season as they are in a 12th place in the table. Saints signed several players during the summer transfer window like Danny Ings from Liverpool, Che Adams from Birmingham, Moussa Djenepo from Standart, Kevin Danso from Augsburg and Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham.
