Mexico manager Tata Martino says Wolves centre-forward Raul Jimenez should move to Man United over Juventus as he would face less contest for the No.9 role at Theatre of Dreams. Anthony Martial has made the move inside from the left-wing since Romelu Lukaku moved to Inter Milan last summer.
While Martial has enjoyed his most prolific campaign, scoring 15 PL goals, the Norwegian manager is still believed to be on the lookout for a natural centre-forward. Mexico international is one of the names on the list after a fantastic season for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side and has been linked with moves to several top European teams.
Should Raul leave Wolves, his international manager Martino believes he may struggle to compete with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus and is better off becoming Red Devils main No.9. ‘Looking at it from the outside today I cannot see a specialist No.9 like Raul at United,’ Martino said.
‘There are many forwards like Rashford, Martial and the boy who now plays as a right-winger, Greenwood, but since Romelu Lukaku left I can’t see a pure number nine like Raul.’
However, Martino, who also managed Blaugrana for one campaign in 2013-14, warned his star centre-forward that he needs to be ‘convinced’ of his next move if he moves away from Molineux in the near future.
‘We who see it from the outside, you and even me, always have the idea that a player has to aim for more and how good it would be for him to go to play for Man United,’ Martino added.
