Serie A giants in pole position to sign €25m-rated Chelsea left-back

Juventus are reportedly looking to bring the London club defender Emerson Palmieri to the Allianz Arena in a short-term deal. The transfer would initially be a loan move, but the Bianconeri are chasing a purchase option in the deal. Old Lady see Italy international as a possible replacement for defender Mattia De Sciglio.

De Sciglio was left out of Bianconeri’s 3-0 victory over Sampdoria with manager Andrea Pirlo preferring teenager Gianluca Frabotta. But Fabrotta, 21, is considered to be too inexperienced, and their other left-back Alex Sandro is still injured, so they need a solution as soon as possible.

The 26-year-old defender has fallen out of favour at the London club in recent times and has been replaced in the team by new addition Ben Chilwell. Emerson joined them in January 2018 for a fee of £18m from Roma but has since played only 55 times for the London club.

Palmieri was left out of Frank Lampard’s squad for Blues 3-1 win over Brighton and has played only two minutes of PL football since the lockdown began. Despite his lack of playing time, he is still a wanted man and has also caught the attention of West Ham United and Inter Milan.

It has been reported that Hammers coach David Moyes wants to sign him after the poor displays of Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku. Rossoneri’s interest in the Italian defender is long-standing, and they hoped to complete a permanent deal for the Italian last winter.

A move to Bianconeri could suit the 26-year-old defender as he would returning to his home country to play under Pirlo, one of his nation’s footballing heroes.
