Los Blancos are reportedly interested in an ambitious transfer swoop for Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk, he’s happy where he is. Still, this rumour comes despite some uncertainty over Netherlands international situation at Merseyside club, with conflicting reports over him possibly signing a new deal to commit his future to Liverpool.
Virgil has agreed on a new contract with the Reds, this story was later contradicted by claims in the Liverpool Echo. Italian journalist Nicolo Schira also believes talks are taking place over Reds tying down Van Dijk.
The 28-year-old centre-back makes sense as a player La Liga giants could be interested in, as he’s become one of the best footballers in the world in his position. He is a captain of the national team which is already a big success for the player.
Dutch defender would make an ideal long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos, and give this Los Blancos squad a bit more balance to become a force in La Liga and Europe again after a difficult rebuilding period. Still, Reds fans probably don’t need to worry about losing their Dutch star anyway, whether he’s about to sign a new deal or not.
Real Madrid had terrible consequences last season as they finished La Liga in a third position and knocked out from the Champions League and Copa del Rey. Los Blancos signed several players this summer like Rodrygo Goes from Santos, Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt, Eden Hazard from Chelsea, Eder Militao from Porto, Ferland Mendy from Lyon and Alphonse Areola from PSG.
