Real Betis are interested in signing Gunners midfielder Mohamed Elneny, who is currently impressing with Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig. Egypt international left the London club in the summer following the signing of Dani Ceballos.
Mohamed had already fallen down the pecking order behind Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi in the middle of the Gunners midfield. Following a tricky start which saw Elneny sent off on his Besiktas debut, he has since impressed for the Super Lig club and clocked up 12 games.
The 27-year-old midfielder has helped the Turkish giants produce five straight league wins, while also appearing in the Europa League. Egyptian midfielder has been linked with the likes of AC Milan and Sevilla ahead of the winter window, though he is contracted to a season-long loan at Besiktas.
Now, Real Betis are said to be keen, with the La Liga club ‘much more in need’ of a midfielder. The £8m signing has a contract at Emirates until the summer of 2022. There is no question that Mohamed has little future at London club despite impressing on loan at Besiktas.
Gunners will surely be looking to offload the midfielder, who struggled to impress Arsenal fans following his move from FC Basel. The only decision Elneny and his representatives have to consider is whether to stick it out at the Turkish club beyond winter, or look to make a change in the winter window and cut his Besiktas loan short.
Given his form, he may be better to stay in Turkey. Real Betis signed several players during the summer like Borja Iglesias from Espanyol and Nabil Fekir from Lyon.
