PSG are set to offer £87m to prise Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic away from Serie A this summer. The 25-year-old midfielder has been a standout performer for Simone Inzaghi’s side this campaign with the club top of the league for the first time in 20 years. Thomas Tuchel wants to bolster the midfield during the summer.
But the French champions are hoping they can land their long-term target with a huge offer. PSG’s interest in Sergej first came two years ago, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito’s asking price of 100m euros was deemed too high. His brother Vanja Milinkovic-Savic also plays professionally and is currently on-loan at Standard Liege from Torino.
But sporting director Leonardo is a known admirer of Milinkovic-Savic, and the club are now willing to meet that request. However, they could face competition with Serbia international attracting interest from various clubs in England, including Man City, Chelsea and Man United.
The Serbian midfielder has registered five goals and seven assists in all tournaments this campaign. Sergej started his career in his homeland with Vojvodina before moving to Belgian side Genk in 2014. A move to Lazio followed a year later, and he recently made his 150th league appearance for the club.
PSG have fantastic consequences in the Ligue 1 this campaign as they are leading the table. Parisians signed several players last summer like Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan, Idrissa Gueye from Everton, Ander Herrera from Man United, Abdou Diallo from Borussia Dortmund, Pablo Sarabia from Sevilla and Keylor Navas from Real Madrid
