PSG closely monitoring £100,000-a-week Chelsea defender

The battle to add Antonio Rudiger keeps getting more interesting by the day. Real Madrid and PSG are keeping a close watch on the situation around the 28-year-old centre-back, who is currently in the final year of his deal with the London giants.

Germany international joined the Blues from Roma in the summer of 2017 and has since been on a topsy turvy ride at Chelsea. Currently enjoying the best spell of his career so far, Rudiger has been a footballer reborn under the tutelage of the German tactician, becoming a crucial player for the London club.

To date, the German has played 155 games for the Blues while chipping in with seven goals and three assists along the way. The Blues, though, are in a precarious position over his future as the German defender has entered the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge.

This has, in turn, alerted Los Blancos and Parisians to his possible availability on a free transfer. That is because the Argentine manager already has three world-class defenders to choose from after the arrival of Sergio Ramos from the Spanish club.

With Abdou Diallo also at his disposal, there really does not appear to be in need of another centre-back. As for Chelsea, they continue to scramble to tie Rudiger down to a new deal, although very little progress has been made on that front.

For now, Los Blancos and Parisians continue to track his situation at the London club, and it stays to be seen if Antonio departs Chelsea as a free agent next summer.
