Preston started negotiations with 20-year-old Liverpool shot-stopper

Preston North End have entered the battle to sign Merseyside club shot-stopper Caoimhin Kelleher on loan this campaign. The German tactician is now weighing up his options and considering whether or not to sanction the temporary exit of the U21 Ireland international.

Caoimhin is seen as a future first-team star at Liverpool, but that they could be tempted to let him leave and pick up regular senior action in the second half of the season in the Championship. Kelleher starred in the recent EFL victory with Arsenal, saving a Dani Ceballos penalty to help his side progress to the quarter-finals.

It would be a smart decision for Jurgen to allow the 20-year-old goalkeeper the opportunity to move away for the second half of the campaign.

Irish shot-stopper has had his two games of exposure in Liverpool’s set-up and performed brilliantly. Still, with Alisson Becker, Adrian, and Andy Lonergan at the club, there may not be many more opportunities for him to play this campaign.

Klopp has already allowed Kamil Grabara the opportunity to move to Huddersfield, and his exposure has seen him shine this campaign. Jurgen should use the Polish goalkeeper’s experience as a sign that it is smart to allow your youngsters the chance to possibly drop down a level but feature weekly in one of the competitive leagues around.

His starring displays with the Gunners proved he is more than capable of cementing his place in goal in the future, but for him to stick around and play in the U23s would be a real waste, for now, he has tasted senior action.
