The London club have reached an agreement to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax, according to reports. After failing to sign a footballer in the winter transfer window, Morocco international is reportedly top of Frank Lampard’s shortlist ahead of the summer.
And the London club have a verbal agreement in place with the Dutch champions to sign Hakim at the end of the campaign. The report claims that advanced talks have taken place in the last 24 hours and Blues have agreed to pay a €45m fee for Ziyech.
It’s also claimed that the 26-year-old attacker still can change his mind as a deal has not been signed, but only Blues so far have been talking with Ajax, and the Dutch club have not been interested in holding talks with other parties.
The Moroccan attacker has been a key figure at Ajax over the past two campaigns with 29 goals and 45 assists in 78 games. Hakim helped Ajax win the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup last season and was instrumental in helping the team reach the semi-finals of the UCL.
This campaign, Ziyech has already played against Blues twice in the UCL and provided three assists in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge in November.
Chelsea have excellent consequences in the Premier League this campaign as they are in a fourth place in the table. London club signed Mateo Kovacic from Real Madrid and Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund recently. Blues heavily linked with Lyon centre-forward Moussa Dembele and Napoli striker Dries Mertens.
