Serie A giants leading race for £300,000-a-week Man United midfielder
Juventus have agreed on a deal in principle with Paul Pogba. It appears the Man United star is determined to rejoin his former team in an effort to revive his career, although the Bianconeri could face stiff competition from PSG. With Dybala and Chiellini leaving the club, the Old Lady are staring at a difficult summer.
Following the high profile exits, supporters will undoubtedly demand some new faces who can help add the much-needed quality into the ranks as the team look to compete for the Serie A title next campaign. One of the footballers in line to join the club is France international.
Pogba is a prodigal son of the Bianconeri, having played for the club between 2012 to 2016. During his time in Turin, Paul played a total of 178 competitive games, seemingly announcing himself as one of the best midfielders in the world before earning a comeback to Man United.
However, his second spell at Man United has not panned out the way he would have hoped, with the 29-year-old midfielder often struggling for form and fitness. And it appears he is now ready to put an end to his spell at Theatre of Dreams by leaving the club at the end of the campaign.
The French midfielder could prove to be an asset for the Bianconeri as he can join ranks with Locatelli and Zakaria to breed new life to the Serie A club’s midfield unit.
Man United planning shock move for No.9 Austria international
Man United are among many teams keeping an eye on Stuttgart centre-forward Sasa Kalajdzic heading into the summer transfer window. Austria international joined Stuttgart from Admira Wacker and has quickly grown into one of the most sought-after strikers in the Bundesliga.
Kalajdzic has netted 24 goals in 57 games so far for the Swabians. However, the recently-concluded Bundesliga season was an injury-riddled one for Sasa as he played only 15 games, scoring six goals. Despite that, the 24-year-old striker’s stock remains high as ever, as several top teams from around Europe are interested in signing him.
Indeed, as per the report, Bayern Munich are looking at the Austrian centre-forward as a possible replacement for Lewandowski, who is linked with a summer move to Chelsea and Barcelona. Borussia Dortmund have also expressed an interest in the Austrian, as have PSG.
And now Man United, too, have entered the fray to add Sasa in the summer. The Red Devils are in desperate need of a top goalscorer to support Portuguese maverick Ronaldo next campaign. Man United legend has been carrying the team all by himself at times this campaign and needs better support up top.
Cavani will be leaving at the end of the campaign, while Martial is unlikely to have a future at Theatre of Dreams once he returns from his loan spell at Sevilla.
Newcastle join race for €70m-rated Man United transfer target
Frenkie de Jong has popped up on the radar of Newcastle United over a potential move in the summer transfer window. The Barcelona midfielder is also a target for the Red Devils amid widespread speculation surrounding his future.
The Netherlands international has made gradual progress in his career since joining the Blaugrana from Ajax in summer 2019. De Jong has turned out 138 times for the Catalan giants thus far, chipping in with 13 goals and 17 assists.
But Frenkie’s Barcelona future is up in the air, as the La Liga giants stay in financial distress despite some measures taken by Joan Laporta. And the 25-year-old midfielder could be the Blaugrana’s best hope to raise some much-needed funds to balance their books.
Such a situation has captured the attention of Man United and Newcastle United. The Dutch midfielder has emerged as a priority target for the Red Devils, who will need to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Matic will leave Man United after the 2021/22 campaign ends, while Pogba could also depart from Theatre of Dreams as a free agent. The Dutchman has thus popped up on Man United’s radar, with recent reports claiming the Red Devils are closing in on signing him.
But Man United will face stiff competition from Newcastle in the battle to secure the services of de Jong in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if the Magpies can convince the former Ajax midfielder to move to St. James’ Park.
