Man United have joined Barcelona in pursuit of playmaker Dani Olmo, who is impressing at RB Leipzig. The 23-year-old playmaker left the Blaugrana in 2014 for Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb, where the midfielder rose to prominence after coming through the youth sides.
Having become one of the most coveted young playmakers in Europe, Olmo made a move to the Bundesliga giants in winter last year. Since signing for RB Leipzig, Dani has grown into a key figure for the club, while the playmaker has also managed to establish a foothold for the Furia Roja.
Indeed, Spain international was one of Furia Roja’s top performers at the UEFA Euro 2020, which put the playmaker on the radars of top teams in Europe, including former club Barcelona.
The Catalan giants have been going through financial problems while the departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann has taken away a lot of star quality from their attacking contingent.
In a bid to address that, the Blaugrana made a late deadline day attempt to add the Spanish playmaker in the summer but failed with their late offer.
Apart from the Blaugrana and Man United, the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus are also interested in Dani, giving an indication of the playmaker’s potential and quality. What now stays to be seen is if any of the teams do make a concerted push to sign Olmo in the coming months.
