Red Devils are in negotiations to hand midfield stalwart, Nemanja Matic, an extension beyond 2021. Serbia international has excelled in his role as a holding midfielder allowing the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba to operate more effectively further forward in Red Devils front-line.
Nemanja was to leave Theatre of Dreams in the winter transfer window but a string of good displays sitting in front of the Red Devils back four have seen the midfielder firmly fixed in Man United coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans going forward.
Matic has featured ahead of Scott McTominay and Fred in Red Devils last two PL matches with Sheffield United and Brighton and helped Man United to victory in both games. Now, the 31-year-old midfielder could be rewarded with a new deal extension at the end of the campaign.
It would certainly make sense for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign the Serbian midfielder on for longer given that he is still putting in good displays for the club. Nemanja has been instrumental in Red Devils good run of form since the restart of the PL and could now remain on at Theatre of Dreams for longer.
Matic looked set for the exit door a few months ago but a string of impressive displays have secured him a new contract. Nemanja has played at the base of Red Devils midfield and provided the foundation that has allowed his team-mates to be so fluid going forward.
Man United have scored six goals without conceding in their past two matches and are two points off Blues in fourth.
