Man United leading race to sign €70m-rated Serbian midfielder

Some may remember Mateja Kezman as a footballer sporadically featuring for PSG and Chelsea during his playing days. Not many will know that Mateja currently manages one of the sought-after midfielders in Europe, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who is at a crossroads with regard to his future.

Serbia international is strongly linked with Man United, among other teams, as he inches closer to leaving Lazio after many years at the Italian club. The connections to Man United are nothing new, as the Red Devils and Milinkovic-Savic have been one of the favourite writing topics for British and Italian media.

However, Serie A giants are prepared to let him leave if they can get a significant offer in the summer. The Italian tactician wants to use those funds to bolster the side in the next window. Man United are expected to bring in a big-name midfielder after Erik ten Hag’s appointment, with Paul Pogba ready to depart.

Sergej’s agent, Kezman, has now made headlines after first claiming he is in discussions with the Red Devils regarding the midfielder, admitting that the 27-year-old midfielder wanted to join Man United, only to later deny it. The Serbian midfielder has been part of the Lazio side since 2015 and has a deal until 2024.

Lazio might look to cash in in the summer if the Serbian desires to leave the club. It stays to be seen if the Red Devils are interested or if these are only rumours invented by the media, although Kezman’s first statements might have some weightage.
