Man United leading race to sign 16-year-old English centre-back

Man United are ready to rival Aston Villa in the pursuit of Josh Feeney. The Fleetwood Town centre-back is expected to leave the club when his deal expires at the end of June, with the footballer free to choose his next destination.

Aston Villa are thought to be favourites in the pursuit of Josh, but it looks Red Devils are determined to acquire the services of the defender, who has mesmerised the onlookers with his displays in the youth tournaments. Feeney is yet to make his professional debut for the League One side, but the player captains the England U16 side.

In fact, Josh recently scored in the 6-0 win over Northern Ireland. Such displays have fueled the hype over Josh, who boasts a fantastic 1.93m figure that makes him quite an intimidating presence for players of his age. It plays a major reason behind his success in the youth levels, with many clubs now even certain that Josh will thrive at a higher level.

The young Fleetwood Town defender has already become a part of Aston Villa’s transfer agenda in the summer. Dean Smith’s men are indeed targeting a bunch of teenagers, especially due to the current financial climate.

Man United’s very own Axel Tuanzebe is a reported target for the Villans in the summer, though perhaps unsurprisingly so, as the Englishman doesn’t appear to have any future left at the Theatre of Dreams.

In addition to Tuanzebe, Man United are expected to run a potential defensive haul in the summer. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is particularly keen on finding an upgrade over Victor Lindelof, having already been linked with a move for Raphael Varane.
