Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele stays a target for Premier League giants Man United, who have offered him a deal worth €10-15m in net wages. France international has been with the Blaugrana since 2017 when he joined from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth over €100m.
Brought in as a replacement for Neymar, Dembele has never really lived up to the potential he had shown early in his career. Injuries have hampered his development as well, with Ousmane failing to make the impact expected at the Catalan club.
The 24-year-old winger’s current deal with the Blaugrana expires at the end of the campaign. An exit on a Bosman deal looked certain when talks over a new contract had broken down completely in winter.
However, the Catalan giants have restarted talks with his representatives over an extension recently after the form he has displayed under Xavi. Indeed, the 42-year-old manager has been able to extract the best out of the French forward over the past few months, while the winger has shown what he can do if he manages to stay injury-free.
It has forced the Blaugrana to consider their stance on his contract and reopen negotiations to try and tie him down to a new contract. With Man United ready to lose Mata, Lingard and Cavani in the summer, attacking reinforcements will be necessary. And signing someone like the Frenchman to bolster the right-wing could be a shrewd piece of business by Man United.
