Real Madrid are reportedly hoping to offload Gareth Bale to the Red Devils as they look for buyers in this summer’s transfer window. Wales international is no longer a regular in the French manager’s starting line-up and has looked likely to be heading for the exit door for some time now but without much success in finding a move so far.
The latest on Gareth’s future is that his former club Tottenham are admirers of his but cannot afford an agreement, with La Liga giants hoping Red Devils could show interest. It’s not clear, however, that Man United actually will show an interest in Bale this summer, and it would probably be pretty shocking overall.
At his peak, the 31-year-old winger would have been a fine fit at Man United, but the signing would now surely represent a big gamble and possibly a major step backwards. Red Devils boss is building an exciting young club and needs to stick to that vision instead of going back to adding stars who aren’t really likely to fit into the club.
The Welshman still has great ability, but at this stage, it seems more likely he’d end up being another Alexis at Old Trafford. An emotional return to Tottenham might have been a better fit, but it’s perhaps unsurprising he’s currently unaffordable to the Spurs, who are also pretty well stocked in the front-line anyway.
Gareth and his coach have never seen eye to eye, with problems dating back to Zizou’s reported indifference to his star’s stunning strike that won Real Madrid the Champions League in 2018.
