Man United keep a close eye on €30m-rated Jamaican attacker

Red Devils and Blues may have been handed a boost after Pep Guardiola dropped a hint over his transfer plans for Man City. The Spanish manager has addressed the recent Leroy Sane transfer speculation, saying he doesn’t know if the German attacker will stay at the club this summer.

This comes as recently linked Man City with interest in Bayer Leverkusen forward Leon Bailey as a possible replacement for Leroy Sane if he leaves, but Pep Guardiola has hinted he won’t be in the market for a new forward whatever happens.

“Leroy is our player. I don’t know if he is going to leave this summer or at the end of his contract, but we have enough good players up front,” Guardiola said.

“Gabriel and Phil Foden can play on the left, we have Raheem there. We have big, talented players upfront. Most of them are in good health conditions, like Phil, Riyad, Gabriel and Raheem. They can play quite regularly for a long period.”

Man City have plenty of options in attack even without Germany international, so might not need to move for Leon, also if the young Jamaica international has impressed in the Bundesliga.

Another recent report also linked the £40m-rated Leon as a target for Man United and Chelsea, so these clubs might be glad to hear Pep Guardiola’s side don’t look ready to join the running for his signature.

Red Devils could do with Leon as an upgrade on their current attacking footballers after a difficult campaign in which they face a major uphill battle to finish in the top four.
