Man United’s incoming coach Erik ten Hag is eyeing a move for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch manager has reportedly placed the Netherlands international at the top of his right-back wishlist as he prepares to take the Red Devils back to the upper echelons of European football.
Erik ten Hag will have Wan-Bissaka and Dalot as his two right-back options when he arrives at Theatre of Dreams. And while there is little clarity over which of the two footballers the current Ajax coach will prefer at Man United, he has reportedly identified Denzel as a suitable option for his system.
Currently, at Inter Milan, Dumfries moved to Italy just last campaign in a €15m move from PSV. The 26-year-old defender has played 41 games for the Serie A champions across tournaments, scoring five and assisting seven goals. His form for Inter Milan has convinced the Erik ten Hag to pursue the Dutch defender.
The aforementioned report claims that despite signing him last summer, Inter Milan are willing to listen to offers and could let him leave if the right one arrives. The Nerazzurri are expecting a bid in the region of €35m for the Dutchman.
At only 26 years of age, the former PSV defender can serve the club for years to come, and the price tag shouldn’t deter Man United either, especially if Erik ten Hag has identified him as his preferred right-back.
