Red Devils have reportedly been scouting Benfica starlet Florentino Luis, but they could face stiff competition from Roma and Juventus for his signature. However, his form for the Eagles has seemingly attracted interest from elsewhere, as Man United have sent a scout to take a closer look at the promising midfielder.
U20 Portugal international has come through the youth ranks at Benfica and has gone on to play 69 matches at a senior level already which suggests that he has the talent required to gain the faith of the coaching staff to feature regularly amid his inexperience.
They may well face contest for him though, as it’s added in that report above that both Bianconeri and Giallorossi have also been alerted to his quality and could be preparing to make a move of their own.
Time will tell which, if any, of the clubs noted above can convince Liga NOS giants to sell and strengthen their respective squad with Florentino, but it certainly won’t be cheap as Luis has a £90m release clause in his current deal. Whether or not Eagles would demand that figure to greenlight a sale is questionable.
In turn, whichever club does decide to lodge an offer, they will have to be sure that the 20-year-old midfielder is set to take his game to the next level in the coming years and flourish as ultimately signing a footballer of his age at this stage of his career for such a colossal fee would be a significant gamble.
