Man United join race to sign 24-year-old African midfielder

The battle to add Franck Kessie is ready to heat up as the midfielder is edging closer to leaving Milan. Ivory Coast international has no shortage of suitors either, with the likes of Liverpool, Man United and Man City, among others, keen on signing the midfielder.

The 24-year-old midfielder has made remarkable progress in his career since joining the Rossoneri from Atalanta. Initially signed on loan in the summer of 2017, Kessie made such a rapid impression that the Rossoneri would not have been bothered about being obligated to buy the midfielder permanently in 2019.

To date, Franck has played 184 games for Milan while chipping in with 30 goals and 15 assists along the way. However, after entering the final year of his deal with the Rossoneri, the Ivorian midfielder’s future has become the subject of intense speculation. Such a situation has piqued the interest of Liverpool and Man United.

The Reds only recently joined the battle to sign the African midfielder, who has also been linked with several other PL clubs. The possible interest in Kessie makes sense as well, considering Liverpool did not sign a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum.

Speaking of, Man United are in a precarious situation over the future of Paul Pogba, while they could do with a midfielder who is progressive on the ball. That, in itself, makes Franck a viable target, especially at a time when Nemanja Matic is entering the twilight of his playing days.
