Man United asked questions about the situation of Barcelona winger Ansu Fati to super-agent Jorge Mendes while negotiating an agreement for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Red Devils secured the surprising signing of the 36-year-old superstar from Juventus late in the summer transfer window.
Cristiano returned to the Theatre of Dreams 12 years after having left for Real Madrid, with his agent, Jorge Mendes, playing a crucial role in the transfer materialising.
And, it has now emerged that while the Red Devils were thrashing out a deal for Portugal international, Man United also broached the subject of a certain Blaugrana forward named Ansu Fati.
Widely regarded as one of the most talented teenagers to have come out of La Masia in recent years, Spain international burst onto the scenes during the 2019/20 campaign.
With Mason Greenwood starting to flourish, Marcus Rashford on the books as well, and the likes of Anthony Elanga coming through the ranks, the Red Devils front-line seems in a healthy condition. However, the opportunity to sign a generational talent like Ansu, should he become available, would be too appealing to turn down.
The report, though, insists that the Spanish winger has no desire to leave the Blaugrana currently and has made it clear to the Catalan club that he wishes to continue at Camp Nou and help them achieve success. Negotiations over a new contract are likely as well. So, the Red Devils and his other suitors could be headed for disappointment.
