Man United and Chelsea are keeping tabs on Barnsley star Daryl Dike after being impressed by his displays of late. USA international came through the youth ranks at Oklahoma Energy in his homeland, USA and had a stint with Virginia Cavaliers before signing for MLS outfit Orlando City SC in January last year.
Daryl made a decent impression in his debut campaign, with a haul of eight goals and three assists from 22 matches. This past January saw Dike earn a loan move to Barnsley till the end of the 2020/21 season.
Having joined up with the Tykes, the 20-year-old striker has made quite the impression already, banging in five goals in only 11 games in the EFL Championship, helping the team make a push for the promotion playoffs.
The American striker’s progress in the second-tier hasn’t gone unnoticed with scouts from half the PL clubs watching the centre-forward, who has two caps for the US Men’s National Team. Among the clubs keeping tabs on the striker are Man United and Chelsea, both of whom have been mighty impressed by him.
Man United, ever since the Norwegian manager took over the reins, have been more youth-centric in their transfer policies as has been seen from their recruitment of the likes of Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Amad Diallo, Facundo Pellistri along with several teenagers for the youth clubs.
Daryl, in that sense, would fit into that pattern while he could also go on to have a role in the first-team should Red Devils do sign him given as Edinson Cavani is facing an uncertain future at the club while Man United are also considering offloading the profligate Anthony Martial.
