Kieran Trippier was strongly linked with a move to Man United in the summer transfer window, even up until the deadline day, but Atletico Madrid rebuffed a €21m bid, holding out for a €40m release clause.
The demands put off Man United, who were unwilling to splash the cash on England international, especially after securing the deal to add Cristiano Ronaldo. But it appears the Red Devils could enter the market once again for Kieran in the upcoming winter transfer window.
There is no hiding the fact that the Norwegian manager is worried about Man United’s lack of depth at right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka hasn’t had an excellent start to the campaign and had to endure a difficult few months overall.
They did have Axel Tuanzebe as an alternative, but the teenager defender was shipped to Aston Villa on a season-long loan deal. It leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Diogo Dalot as the only backup for Wan-Bissaka heading into the new campaign.
The Portuguese defender, though, is not highly rated at Old Trafford, even though they had to block his move to Borussia Dortmund due to the lack of an alternative Wan-Bissaka at right-back. In the English defender, the Norwegian coach could find himself a perfect solution to this problem.
Trippier has a wealth of experience not only in English football but at the highest stage in general, having 71 matches for Los Colchoneros as well as almost 300 combined games for Tottenham and Burnley, respectively.
