The London giants have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign Birmingham City midfielder Jude Bellingham this summer. This now seems like being a two-horse race for highly-rated young midfielder Jude Bellingham, who will likely end up at either Man United or Borussia Dortmund in a deal likely to cost £30m.
Blues supporters may be disappointed that they look to be out of the running for the 16-year-old, who looks a huge prospect after some exciting displays in the Championship this campaign. Jude could have been a fine fit in Frank Lampard’s side, with Chelsea manager showing this campaign that he’s very willing to place his trust in youth.
Red Devils will now hope they can win the race for the English midfielder, though Borussia Dortmund currently look the favourites for the youngster. The England youth international may well have looked at Jadon Sancho’s success at Borussia Dortmund as an example to follow.
Sancho left Man City for Germany at a young age, and it gave him the chance to play more often than he probably would have managed in the Premier League. Jude is another top young talent, and Borussia Dortmund looks the place to be for the game’s elite teenagers right now.
The English midfielder wants first-team football, which he’s had at Birmingham this season, and whichever club lands his signature could choose to loan him back to the midlands club.
Borussia Dortmund may guarantee more first-team minutes than Man United can offer, mainly if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeps his current midfield options, which include Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic.
