Man United held negotiations with No.10 Serie A centre-forward

Man United have made an approach to Inter Milan for the signing of centre-forward Lautaro Martinez. Man United have offered on-loan striker Anthony Martial plus €50m to acquire the services of Argentina international. Man United are in the market for a No.9 and are looking at footballers who can serve them for the long term.

They have recently been guilty of signing stop-gap options, which haven’t quite worked out for them, and a new approach is much-needed. The appointment of the Dutch coach also points to a change in approach for the club.

In this quest, they have reportedly made an offer for Lautaro, who has been in scintillating form for Inter Milan over the past few years. Martinez is leading their front-line this campaign following Lukaku’s departure and has scored 17 goals and assisted three in Serie A.

He will have four years remaining on his Inter Milan deal after the ongoing campaign, which leaves the Italian giants in a position to call the shots. The Nerazzurri are reportedly not interested in a player-plus-cash deal and have asked the Red Devils to pay the whole transfer fee in cash.

If they part ways with Lautaro, they would want a full-cash deal to sign another striker from the market. While the Red Devils continue their search for a new number nine, it looks Anthony Martial’s days at the club are numbered.
