Lazio have reportedly handed Red Devils and other potential transfer suitors for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic a significant boost. Eagles have assured Serbia international that they will seriously consider selling him next summer and lower his asking price, possibly to nearly €85m.
Real Madrid interested in signing Milinkovic-Savic, but he’s also been linked with Man United in the past. Sergej was in the Red Devils’ sights over the summer as a potential replacement for Paul Pogba, though in the end, neither footballer ended up moving.
La Liga giants are now looking at the 24-year-old midfielder as an alternative to Paul Pogba, so the two deals could perhaps still be connected. If Man United decide to let their French star leave, they could do well to allow him a move to the Spanish club, so they no longer need to sign Serbian midfielder.
This could then allow the Italian club star to finally replace Pogba at Theatre of Dreams in a move that could quite likely be a major upgrade for the Red Devils after Pogba’s struggles to fit in and fulfil his potential at the club. In this season Sergej played nine matches, scored two goals and provided four assists in all tournaments.
Even if Paul doesn’t leave, there is surely still room in Norwegian manager’s squad for Sergej, who’d be a significant upgrade on flops like Matic, Fred and Andreas Pereira. Milinkovic-Savic is a regular member of the national team squad and also played in the 2018 World Cup which is already a big success for the midfielder.
