Arsenal are no longer the only club in pursuit of Christopher Nkunku for a move in the summer transfer window. Arsenal are now facing stiff contest from Barcelona and Man United in the race to sign the RB Leipzig attacker, with local rivals Tottenham Hotspur also keen on signing him.
U21 France international made an instant impact after joining RB Leipzig from PSG in the summer of 2019. In his maiden season with Die Roten Bullen, Christopher had a fantastic return of 5 goals and 15 assists in the Bundesliga, registering the third-highest assists in the German top-flight last term.
This campaign, though, has been a slow one for Nkunku, who has only 7 goals and 8 assists in 32 matches across all tournaments, although there has been a steady improvement in his displays. The 23-year-old attacker’s stock, though, stays as high as ever, with Arsenal, Man United and Barcelona among the teams keen on signing him.
The Gunners hold a long-standing interest in the Frenchman, having also been in his pursuit when he was still at PSG. The continued pursuit of Nkunku makes a great deal of sense, considering the complications in securing the services of Martin Odegaard on a permanent transfer, with the Norwegian attacker also a target for Liverpool now.
As for Red Devils, they could perhaps find a use for Nkunku either out wide or in central midfield, considering the uncertain future that Paul Pogba continues to face at Theatre of Dreams, even though there have been murmurings of a possible contract renewal. The Frenchman, though, is unlikely to start as a no. 10, with Bruno Fernandes going strong and Donny van de Beek his deputy.
