Blaugrana manager Quique Setien insists long-term Red Devils transfer target Ivan Rakitic has not asked to leave the Camp Nou. Croatia international, who is out of the deal in 2021, recently suggested his future may lie away from the Catalan giants after criticising the club’s treatment of him.
‘I am not a sack of potatoes,’ Ivan said. ‘I will decide on my future. I want to be where I am valued. If it is here, delighted, and if not, it will be where I decide.’ But Quique Setien claims he is unaware of any desire from Rakitic to leave Barcelona.
‘I have no information that Rakitic wants to leave the club, and he has no transmitted that to me,’ Setien said. ‘And with me, he has played a lot and can continue doing it. I am happy with his performance and have nothing to say. We have to wait to see what happens and if he wants to leave or not.
And if I have to say it, the time will come.’ It’s thought that there could be a huge summer clearout at Barcelona, with club chiefs hoping to bring Neymar back to Spain. Philippe Coutinho is one of the footballers reportedly up for sale, along with the 32-year-old midfielder, but Setien also suggested he could stay with Barcelona next campaign.
Man United have good results in Premier League this season as they are in a fifth place in the table. The Red Devils signed several footballers during the winter transfer window like Bruno Fernandes from Sporting, Odion Ighalo from Shanghai Shenhua and Nathan Bishop from Southend United.
