Liverpool started negotiations with No.9 English centre-forward

The Merseyside giants are interested in signing Patrick Bamford next summer. The Leeds United striker had impressed the German tactician with his displays last campaign, causing Jurgen Klopp to explore a possible deal for the talented centre-forward, who recently made his Three Lions debut during the international break.

The Reds would not be the first top Premier League team to be linked with a move for England international next summer. Last month, it was Tottenham who had reportedly explored the idea of signing Bamford, who has enjoyed immense success since arriving at Elland Road in 2018.

Indeed, Patrick has featured in 114 competitive games for the Peacocks, scoring 44 goals in the process. His 16 goals in the Championship during the 2019/20 season were extremely important in helping them get promoted to the Premier League for the first time in nearly two decades.

The 28-year-old striker continued his displays in the PL as well, netting 17 goals last term. His exploits in the final third helped the Peacocks achieve a mid-table finish, with Marcelo Bielsa’s men looking to aim even higher in the ongoing season.

The Merseyside club’s interest in the English centre-forward is hardly surprising as the PL giants are considered to be in the market for a new striker. Liverpool have not had much success with Roberto Firmino over the past 12 months, with the Brazilian striker now seemingly falling behind Diogo Jota in the pecking order.
