Liverpool renewed negotiations with 20-year-old Bundesliga defender

It’s always been strange that’s it’s generally accepted that spitting is the worst thing that can ever happen on a football pitch, especially when we see racism and career-ending injuries. Despite that, there’s no doubt that it’s a pretty gross thing to do, so this four-game ban for Schalke centre-back Ozan Kabak sounds fair enough.

There’s never a good time for this to happen, but he’s been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks and this certainly won’t help his opportunities of getting a big move. They had been tracking the teenager for months with a view to making an offer, but that now looks unlikely and this news certainly won’t have helped.

Liverpool manager has had some issues with injuries to Joel Matip and Joe Gomez in recent weeks but they look like making a recovery soon, while Fabinho has proven that he can play at the centre-back too.

Their options are still limited in numbers at the back so it wouldn’t be a total surprise if they make a late move for a veteran or a young project to act as cover, but it seems like the interest in Turkey international is done for now.

Ozan is wanted due to his exciting potential and fantastic displays for the Bundesliga club. He’s seen as being at the right age to improve further but be content enough with a squad role at Liverpool.

Publicly, Schalke are adamant not of their squad are for sale. But privately, Williams claims the Royal Blues would be willing to sell the Turkish centre-back for the right price.
