Liverpool renewed interest in €30m-rated Austrian midfielder

Liverpool have entered the battle to add midfielder Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig. Austria international is also a transfer target for Liverpool’s PL rivals Man United and Tottenham. A product of the RB Salzburg youth academy, Laimer played close to 80 games for the Austrian giants before signing for RB Leipzig in 2017.

Konrad has grown into a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Bundesliga club, racking up 154 games, in which he has 11 goals and 18 assists. The 24-year-old midfielder is a versatile operator who can do the job in many positions in midfield and even play as a right wing-back if needed.

The Austrian midfielder is known for his work rate and athleticism, while he also backs it up with good technical ability. These qualities have made the Austrian an attractive prospect for clubs around Europe, including Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham.

Liverpool will need to start building their midfield department for the future as Henderson and Milner are well into their thirties. Question marks remain over the future of Oxlade-Chamberlain. Harvey Elliott has shown great adaptability to present himself as an option in the middle of the park.

But an established footballer like Laimer would add more quality to Klopp’s roster. All three PL teams are yet to make an approach for Konrad. Laimer will enter the final year of his deal with RB Leipzig at the end of the campaign.
