The Merseyside club are reportedly interested in a transfer deal for Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as he could be ready to seek a big move. The 25-year-old midfielder has shone in Serie A and we’ve previously reported on plenty of interest in him from some of Europe’s biggest teams.
The latest on Sergej’s future is that Reds are now among his suitors and that he could be keen to try a new challenge at a leading European side. The report adds that Milinkovic-Savic could leave the Biancocelesti for nearly €70m due to the Italian side’s current financial woes that have been brought about by the covid pandemic.
Reds would do well to pounce and make the most of this situation, with Serbia international likely to be an excellent signing to a squad that could soon need to make some changes in the middle of the park.
Footballers like Georginio Wijnaldum, James Milner and Thiago Alcantara are not getting any younger, while the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain haven’t really lived up to expectations at Liverpool.
It’s easy to see why the Serbian midfielder could therefore be ideal to come in and give Reds more quality in midfield and provide a long-term option for the German manager in that important area.
Sergej sits at the heart of the action, dictates play but also has the athleticism and power to get up and down the pitch and the technique to beat players and create space. He really is an all-round midfielder.
English teams have been looking at him for years but for some reason haven’t pounced. Now 25 this is the perfect time to get him and bolster the Merseyside giants in a spectacular way.
