Liverpool, West Ham United and Celtic have all been credited with an interest in Sampdoria defender Omar Colley, who is available at something of a bargain price this summer. The 27-year-old centre-back, who turns 28 later this month, has a release clause of only £11m, which is attracting the attention of several teams in the UK.
Omar signed for Sampdoria in 2018 from Genk and has played over 50 league games in Italy, also racking up 13 UEL matches at his previous club. There is interest in Colley from the Premier League and Scotland, but there is yet to be an offer made for his services.
The Gambia international is reportedly keen on a move to the Anfield, although he would likely only be the squad footballer at Liverpool, providing competition to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip. The German manager is keen to fill a gap in the squad left by the departing Dejan Lovren, who left for Zenit earlier this summer.
Hammers have been in the market for the centre-back all transfer window, failing in offers for Burnley defender James Tarkowski and in a loan move for Arsenal’s Rob Holding.
The Gambian centre-back may prove to be a good value option for them. Celtic’s interest is dependent on the future of Kristoffer Ajer, who had himself been linked with a £15m move to Anfield. But if the Bhoys keep hold of Ajer then they are unlikely to continue a battle for the African defender.
