Liverpool leading race to sign 22-year-old Premier League forward

The Merseyside giants are strongly linked with Ismailla Sarr and now an ex-Premier League centre-forward has backed Liverpool to lure the attacker from Watford in the summer transfer window. In an exclusive interview, Kevin Phillips praised Senegal international and said that that he would be a good signing for Liverpool.

“He would be a good signing for Liverpool. I like him a lot. I was amazed when he first went there that he was not played straight away because he arrived for a lot of money.”

Talks of a £40m price tag are there in the media but yesterday, Hornets Observer revealed that the sum would not be enough. It is stated that £40m might only cover the cost of his left leg.

Ismaila’s current deal with Watford will expire in 2024, so, the news source have mentioned that the relegated side are under no financial pressure to sell their attacker for cheap. Sarr might cost £50m.

Back in February, the 22-year-old winger was the one who tormented the German tactician’s world-class defence and goalie. The Senegalese forward scored two goals and provided an assist to end Reds unbeaten and 18-match winning run in the PL last term.

So, Ismaila can be a dangerous attacker. Reds need to improve the depth of their offence but it must be remembered that the German boss opted against paying £50m for Timo Werner. Therefore, if Hornets demand nearly £50m for Sarr then it will not be shocking to see the Merseyside giants drop their interest in signing him this summer.
