Liverpool keeping tabs with 22-year-old Portuguese centre-back

Liverpool are once again in for Braga centre-back David Carmo. The 22-year-old centre-back has enjoyed an impressive season out in Portugal, and according to this report, the German coach has personally recommended the signing of the defender.

As we know, the Reds do have an eye on the Portuguese market. After all, they signed Luis Diaz from Porto in winter. Interestingly, David almost joined the Reds 18 months ago. Carmo even reportedly underwent a medical at the time, and Braga’s coach was convinced that a move would come to fruition.

However, as we all know, that transfer never came to pass, but now, it looks like Liverpool are once again keen on the Portuguese centre-back. Well, at the age of only 22, this is a footballer with a lot of room to grow, but at 6 ft 5 in he probably won’t grow any more in stature.

David is a physically imposing defender who certainly knows how to marshal a defence. In fact, his former youth manager has gone as far as to compare him with Sergio Ramos for his leadership ability.

Sergio Ramos may not be the most popular man on Merseyside after his exploits in the Champions League final back in 2019, but even the most hardened the Reds supporter would have to admit that Sergio Ramos has been a fantastic player over the years. David is in the Ramos mould, and if the Reds sign him, they could be signing yet another defensive gem.
