Liverpool and Bayern Munich have overtaken Man United as the most likely clubs to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho next summer, according to reports. England international was linked with a move to Man United all summer, but Red Devils failed to match Bundesliga giants £108m valuations by their August 10 deadline.
After bringing in Donny van de Beek from Ajax early last month, Man United had a busy last 24 in the transfer window. They completed deals for Edinson Cavani, Alex Telles and teenagers Facundo Pellistri, Willy Kambwala and Amad Diallo.
However, their priority target Jadon stayed at the German club, despite his eagerness to move to Man United. Sancho’s camp are now willing to re-assess their options, and Reds and Bavarians are more likely to sign the winger than the Red Devils.
The report states that despite some reports, the 20-year-old forward was never likely to force through a move to Man United as he wants to maintain a good relationship with Bundesliga giants. The English forward is also understood to have spoken to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the past and been impressed by the German tactician.
The Merseyside giants weren’t in the battle for the English winger this summer as they were reluctant to splash out a big sum on one footballer, but that situation is likely to change next year.
Red Devils deadline-day signing Cavani arrives with a wealth of experience, having scored 200 goals in 301 matches for his last club PSG, which is a club record. When assessing the capture of Cavani, Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer labelled Edinson as the ‘ultimate professional’.
