Liverpool keen on signing 29-year-old Bundesliga midfielder

Merseyside club are reported to be in advanced talks with Thiago Alcantara and Jamie Carragher could not be happier about his move to Liverpool. Spain international was one of the crucial footballers in Bayern’s victorious UCL season. However, with only one year left on his deal, the club isn’t optimistic about keeping him.

The Merseyside giants have been heavily linked with a move for Alcantara, especially if Georginio Wijnaldum moves to Camp Nou. Some reports suggest that Red Devils want to hijack Liverpool’s move. However, Thiago apparently prefers a switch to Liverpool for two reasons.

Those Reds hopes have grown over the weekend. They claim the 29-year-old midfielder is in the advanced stages of talks over the move to Anfield. Liverpool, however, will need to sell first and Gini Wijnaldum looks the obvious fall-guy. Even so, Jamie reckons Reds are signing a player of genuine quality.

Jamie Carragher hailed what he would bring to the Merseyside club’s midfield. “He has come through the Barcelona school. The Liverpool midfielders all do a brilliant job but are similar. Thiago can control the game more and add a bit extra in midfield technically,” Jamie Carragher said.

Jamie Carragher also believes, but for the covid, Reds would have signed Timo Werner. He added: “It is just whether the same team can do it again without reinforcements. Thiago Alcantara keen on Liverpool move despite no bid
